Tras dar su testimonio de experto en el caso del asesino en serie Jon Forster, espera la ejecución del criminal con una gran satisfacción. Sin embargo, cuando comienzan a producirse asesinatos parecidos a los que Forster cometía, Jack se ve en la situación de tener que defender el argumento de que los nuevos crímenes son obra de un devoto seguidor del encarcelado... y que Forster sigue siendo culpable, tal como había confesado abiertamente desde el primer momento.
