© Columbia/CBS 1984/1985 "Easy Lover" is a song written by Philip Bailey, Phil Collins, and Nathan East, and accredited to both singers Bailey and Collins when released as a single. The song appeared on Bailey's solo album Chinese Wall. Collins has also performed the song in his live shows and it appears on his 1990 album Serious Hits... Live!, as well as his 1998 compilation album, ...Hits. The song was a smash hit in the UK, reaching #1 and staying there for four weeks and also reaching #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US. However, it was never released as a single in Australia due to the fact that the record companies considered it would be a commercial over-flood of Phil Collins given his then rising popularity in that country. The lighthearted video for the song was filmed in London and features Bailey travelling by helicopter to meet Collins in a television studio. The original clip was also littered with frequent voice over's frequent dropping in & out of audio volume. This (like many other clips of it's time) was of particular concern to resident VJ's wanting to use this classic as part of their repertoire thus with the use of modern technology we were able to provide them with such. The song was used as a theme song to the inaugural WrestleMania in 1985. The song also featured in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories as part of its soundtrack in the fictional pop radio station, Flash FM. The song was also used in the TV advertisements for the game in the United States and the United Kingdom. In 1994 it was sampled by Chris Morris for "Uzi Lover", a parody of gangsta rap (with Morris portraying its fictitious performer "Fur-Q") in an episode of The Day Today. The song was also covered by R&B/Gospel singer, Cheryl Gamble of SWV in 2001. For more information about Philip & Phil visit: http://www.philipbailey.com/ http://www.philcollins.co.uk/ * Note: It has been commented upon that this unique version may have been sped up. We would like to point out that this is not the case and to prove the point we recently beat analysed this version as well as the original "voice over version" ripped from Phil Collin's Farewell concert DVD (both registering in at exactly 134 BPM). However, the possible reason for most people's misconception is the fact that the actual original album (audio only) version is actually slightly slower (registering at 129 BPM). Thus there in lies the solution, as one would assume that the album/single version is the one the majority of people would be familiar with. And if it is of such deep seeded concern for people we could always upload a slowed down version of the video. * Please also note that all videos uploaded to YouTube are format shifted by the host website from the original files. This can often cause picture & sound deterioration (i.e. mono audio) as well as the occasional video/audio synchronization issue. The files are also deliberately layered with logos &/or promotions on our end, in order to help prevent YouTube recycling by lazy up-loaders who like to take credit for other peoples hard work! This is Philip Glass's haunting and hypnotic main theme for the iconic 1982 movie 'Koyaanisqatsi', directed by Godfrey Reggio. The movie consists of slow-motion and time-lapse photography of natural landscapes and cities. It is a visual tone-poem that contains no dialogue or vocalised narrative. The tone is set by the juxtaposition of the imagery and Glass's music. In the Hopi language, the word 'koyaanisqatsi' means 'life of moral corruption and turmoil, life out of balance', and the movie implies that modern humans are living in such a way. The images are all stills from the movie.

Complete video at: http://fora.tv/fora/showthread.php?t=557 Linden Lab founder and CEO Philip Rosedale discusses the unique creative opportunities offered to users of the online virtual world "Second Life." ----- Second Life: What Do We Learn If We Digitize EVERYTHING? What is real life coming to owe digital life? After a couple years in the flat part of exponential growth, the steep part is now arriving for the massive multi-player online world construction kit called "Second Life." With 1.7 million accounts, membership in "Second Life" is growing by 20,000 per day. The current doubling rate of "residents" is 7 months, still shortening, which means the growth is (for now) hyperexponential. For this talk the founder and CEO of "Second Life," Philip Rosedale, tried something new for him - a simultaneous demo and talk. His online avatar, "Philip Linden," was on the screen showing things while the in-theater Philip Rosedale was conjecturing about what it all means. "This is a game of 'Can I interest you more in what I'm saying than what's going on on the screen?'" He showed how new arrivals go through the "gateway" experience of creating their own onscreen avatar, explaining that because intense creativity is so cheap, easy, and experimental, the online personas become strongly held. "You can have multiple avatars in 'Second Life,' but the overall average is 1.25 avatars per person." The median age of users is 31, and the oldest users spend the most time in the world (over 80 hours per week for 10 percent of the residents). - The Long Now Foundation

Philip Glass practices a piece from "The Hours" for a benefit... and then goes out to buy a loaf of bread. As for the idiots that claim Mr.Glass is mistaken about what he is playing, STFU in general. He is referring to an adaptation of Metamorphosis Two (from "Solo Piano") for the film "The Hours" renamed "Escape!" (track #12 on the Academy Award nominated soundtrack).

The goal of IQ2 US is to raise the level of public discourse on our most challenging issues. To provide a new forum for intelligent discussion, grounded in facts and informed by reasoned analysis. To transcend the toxically emotional and the reflexively ideological. To encourage recognition that the opposing side has intellectually respectable views. To engage the live audience as active participants who will ask questions and decide which speakers have carried the day by voting on the motions both before and after the debate.
