What happens when you take something that's already on fire and THEN NUKE IT!?!?!??!?!? Watch to find out. Anyone who took Chemistry class and witnessed the glowing hydrogen gas in a vacuum tube is familiar with this phenomena. When waves of electromagnetic energy strike an electron in a gas, they cause the electron to jump up to a higher molecular orbital than the one it was previously in. When the electron falls back down, it releases a photon of energy equal to the energy difference between the original energy level and the one it was ionized up to.
