On The Good Ship Lollipop From the movie Bright Eyes (1934) Lyrics/Music S.Clare & R.Whiting ----- On the good ship lollipop Its a sweet trip to a candy shop Where bon-bons play On the sunny beach of Peppermint Bay Lemonade stands everywhere Crackerjack bands fill the air And there you are! Happy landing on a chocolate bar See the sugar bowl do the tootsie roll With the big bad devils food cake If you eat too much ooh ooh You'll awake with a tummy ache On the good ship lollipop Its a night trip into bed you hop And dream away On the good ship lollipop

Music video for Get The Party Started by Dame Shirley Bassey. This incredible recording can be found on the Get The Party Started album, which is out now. A new single with some fabulous dance mixes by NorthxNWest, Flip N Fill and Fugitive, as well as this music video is now also available. Please visit dameshirleybassey.com where you can join the mailing list to be sure you don't miss any of the exciting things coming up from Dame Shirley. Get The Party Started was produced by Catherine Feeney, Nikki Lamborn (Never The Bride), Bob Kraushaar and Chuck Norman (NorthxNWest) with backing vocals by Rietta Austin, Margo Buchanan, Nikki Lamborn and Catherine Feeney. The music video was produced by Hera King and directed by Harvey and Carolyn (Crossroads Films). This song was written by Linda Perry and originally recorded by Pink. Shirley sang it for the M&S Christmas TV ad, filmed in a spy movie style, and featured models Lizzy Jagger, Erin O'Connor, Laura Bailey, Noemie Lenoir and Twiggy as undercover agents on a secret mission to attend an exclusive DSB performance at a glamorous Christmas party. It's difficult to know where to begin when it comes to describing Dame Shirley's incredible career which has spanned over 50 years. Having just celebrated her 70th birthday and a top ten UK album DSB proves age is no barrier for creating great music. The original Welsh Diva and one of Wales' greatest musical exports, she stands tall alongside fellow Welsh singers Charlotte Church, Katherine Jenkins, Tom Jones, Cerys Matthews, Dorothy Squires, Bryn Terfel and Bonnie Tyler to name but a few. During her career Shirley has also collaborated with Swiss band Yello on The Rhythm Divine. She sang with Chris Rea on his Ferrari inspired film, La Passione, and probably most famously with The Propellerheads whose international club hit History Repeating propelled her into the spotlight. It featured on the soundtrack to the movie There's Something About Mary starring Ben Stiller and Cameron Diaz and was the music behind a Jaguar car ad. Shirley is the only singer to have recorded more than one James Bond Theme. She recorded three! Applauded by John Barry, Sean Connery and David Arnold, her hit records Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever ranked as the two best Bond themes ever in a recent poll, where she comfortably beat fellow Bond singers such as Tina Turner, Madonna, Paul McCartney, Matt Monro, Gladys Knight, Sheryl Crow, Lulu and Sheena Easton to the top spots. Casino Royale star Daniel Craig recently suggested DSB should record the next theme - after hearing The Living Tree you can't help but see he's got a point! In recent years Shirley's recording of Diamonds Are Forever was sampled by hip-hop star Kanye West. DSB has performed duets with acts such as Neil Diamond, Andy Williams, Alain Delon, Michael Ball, Bryn Terfel, Charles Aznavour, Jack Jones, Robert Goulet and Eydie Gorme and shared a stage with Ray Charles and Liza Minnelli on a successful tour. In an episode of American Idol (the US equivalent to The X-Factor) contestants Jordin Sparks, Lakisha Jones and Melinda Doolittle all chose Shirley Bassey hits to impress judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul. Chris Sligh said "Shirley Bassey rocks hard core" and presenter Ryan Seacrest proclaimed that it was Dame Shirley Bassey songs that ruled the night. Live performance from 1987 in honour of 750 years Berlin. Part 9. http://shirleybassey.wordpress.com/ About the dress Dame Shirley is wearing for this performance (from Ian): This gown was designed by Sara Perceval around 1983, Sara did all of the lace chiffon gowns for DSB in the 90's. We call it the Cockeral Gown for obvious reasons. The gown was worn at Blazers in London in 1984, on British tv in 1987 and in Berlin in 1987 and several other occasions in the late 80's. It was sadly destroyed in a fire in the early 90's! Lyrics My way: And now, the end is near; And so I face the final curtain. My friend, I'll say it clear, I'll state my case, of which Im certain. I've lived a life thats full. I've traveled each and ev'ry highway; And more, much more than this, I did it my way. Regrets, I've had a few; But then again, too few to mention. I did what I had to do And saw it through without exemption. I planned each charted course; Each careful step along the byway, But more, much more than this, I did it my way. Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew When I bit off more than I could chew. But through it all, when there was doubt, I ate it up and spit it out. I faced it all and I stood tall; And did it my way. I've loved, I've laughed and cried. I've had my fill; my share of losing. And now, as tears subside, I find it all so amusing. To think I did all that; And may I say - not in a shy way, No, oh no not me, I did it my way. For what is a woman, what has she got? If not herself, then she has naught. To say the things she truly feels; And not the words of one who kneels. The record shows I took the blows - And did it my way! (P. Anka, J. Revaux, G. Thibault, C. Frankois)

lyrics here.... There were bells on the hill, But I never heard them ringing, No, I never heard them at all Till there was you. There were birds in the sky But I never saw them winging,No, I never saw them at all Till there was you. And there was music, And there were wonderful roses, They tell me, In sweet fragrant meadows of dawn, and dew. There was love all around But I never heard it singing No,I never heard it at all Till there was you! There was love all around But I never heard it singing No I never heard it at all Till there was you _________________________________ Meredith Willson's "The Music Man" Shirley Jones & Robert Preston

Live performance from Sydney Australia 1978 Part 7. Something Written by George Harrison. Something recorded: April, 1970 released: UK: May '70 on UA single UP 35125 US: Jun 26 '70 on UA single UA 50698 charted: UK Single: #4, Jun 20, 1970 US Easy Listening: #6, Sep 12, 1970 US Pop: #55, Sep 19, 1970 Released 1970 on a single and the album Something. Shirley Bassey's version was a hit though that song had been a hit for The Beatles just a few months before. Shirley's recording matched the No. 4 chart placing that The Beatles had achieved in the UK. And Shirley Bassey had a 22-week chart run in the Top 50 singles charts, her longest chart duration ever for a single, compared with only 12 weeks for the original Beatles version. Something is still one of her standards sung on almost every concert and contained on almost every collection. On the US Billboard The Beatles 1969 reached No. 3, but Shirley's version did not reach that position, but it was a hit around the world - and is still a hit. George Harrison was a lead guitarist of The Beatles. Paul McCartney had been his slightly older school friend. "Something" became the first Harrison song on the A-side of a Beatles single. It was on the The Beatles album "Abbey Road" (Released September 26 1969), the last Beatles album to be recorded (although it was not the last to be released). The song was also sung by Lena Horne, included on her 1969 LP titled "Watch What Happens", and by Carmen McRae, included on her 1970 LP titled "Just A Little Lovin'", and by Jack Jones, included on his 1970 LP entitled "Live At The Sands", and by many more artists. Shirley Bassey wrote about Something: When I first sang it everybody said, "Oh, no, no, no." Then, when I wanted to record it, they said, "No, no, no, it's a Beatles song , it's a group song." And the more they told me not to do it the more I wanted to. And when I did do it I proved them wrong, because it was number four in England for me. And she said: I just went into the studio one evening with these songs, including Something which I had first heard sung by Peggy Lee on the Ed Sullivan show in the States. I didn't even know that The Beatles had done it! I just caught the end of Peggy's performance and I was so knocked out that I started ringing people up, asked if they knew the name of the song that she had sung. About two weeks later I found that it had been written by George Harrison. Shirley Bassey performs this song on most live concerts, so it is available on the live albums too, and on the videos. Lyrics Something in the way he moves Attracts me like no other lover Something in the way he moves me I don't want to leave him now You know I believe in how Somewhere in his smile he knows That I don't need no other lover Something in his style that shows me Don't want to leave him now You know I believe in how You're asking me will our love grow I don't know, I don't know You stick around now it may show I don't know, I don't know Something in the way he moves And all I have to do is think of him Something in the things he shows me I don't want to leave him now You know I believe in how You're asking me will our love grow I don't know, I don't know You stick around now it may show I don't know, I don't know Something in the way he moves Something in the way he knows Something in the way he smiles Something in the way he moves Something in the way he smiles Something (Transcribed by Roman)
