Also functioning in this video are the Moogerfooger CP-251, the Roland Space Echo, and Reason drums. I was controlling the filter cutoff with a CV pedal. It's very much like Propellerhead's ReBirth (remember that one?) and other step-sequencers. I tried to demonstrate how some of it works but my big sausage fingers +plus+ trying to face my MacBook's cam just proved more challenging than I thought. What's cool about it is that not only can you set each note in each step of the sequence, but the type of oscillator per note (ie square, sine or white noise for snares/claps), the volume of each step, and you've got 3 octaves to choose from. But that's not the best part - as shown in the video, it's using the iPhone's accelerometer to mess with the filters - the cutoff and resonance. A modular analogue synth system that fits inside altoids tins. Here we have the synthesizer (a tweaked Atari Punk console) and a clock + power all housed in one altoids tin and an analogue sequencer housed in a second Altoids tin. Later a second sequencer module is added to increase the number of steps from 8 to 16. I apologise for the darkness of the vid. Made it a little late in the day.

Norwegian rock band Gargamel started recording their second album at Harry´s Gym Studio in Oslo in December 2007. This is from when we recorded synths at in April of 2008. It was recorded at Bjørn Viggo Andersens appartement featuring his lovely synth collection, and the synths are played by him. Bjørn was the original keyboard player of Gargamel and was the one playing keyboards on our debut album Watch for the Umbles. Bjørn mostly playes the wonderful Minimoog, but also some Korg MS-20 and Moog Prodigy. Gargamels new album will be out late 2008 or early 2009.
