"Nothings On" is sort of my response to youtube culture. If youtube were a cable station, this is what I think it would be like to "surf" youtube. If people like this one, I'll do some more like this. I wanted to do something like this live as part of the MFF variety show, but my old computer couldn't do it. So, after an upgrade to the "Comp of Cthulu", I finally managed to put together what I *wanted* to do live.

I got a LOT of footage from the closing night on Maj. Here's a reel of freestyle windsurfing. For the record, the "tricks" you see aren't scripted. they have to be performed by the rider using only the "jump" and twists/turn keys. So the hyperspace launches are a LOT harder than they look. And yes, this is more practice video editing.

One of my favorite surf sims in Second Life is gone. A month early. Bishara resorts said they'd close all their sims in January, and Linden Labs decided to shut them down TODAY. After some finagling and probably more than a few lawsuit threats, LL reopened the clusted for 24 hours. And this is what happens when SL surfers know that they're about to lose a legend in less than 24 hours. All recorded tonight on Majini. TOO many surfers to name, but they know who they are. Many thank you's to VW Sands and Lissa Pinion for keeping Maj alive as long as they had. We'll miss Maj, Pepo and Wimbi. Its said that the only constant in life is change, and expecially so in Second Life. But, we are surfers. We leave only virtual footprints, and take pictures and memories. As weird as they are....

On Monday, December 15th, 2008, a bunny BASE jumped from the "Brooklyn is Watching" main tower in Second Life. This is the only known video evidence of this leap. Ok, cheezy, but you read it, right? more SL Video, more practice on new software / hardware. I've got a LOT to learn on the new stuff.

BASE. Building Aerial Span Earth. I think I covered it all this vid, even including the fridge. You gotta see it to believe it. when people tell me SL is an over-glorified chat program, I like to ask them what they've tried on SL? And usually, it's nothing. So, consider this another video of "something to do" in second life. Places visited in the video, in order of appearance. Aabots Aerodrome. Infinity Tarmac. Chelsea. Booville (visited 2 times, and the only "plane" jump in the vid). Appfelland Strand. Ponderosa. Greenies Home Rezzable. Gay Wild West. Here. Metaverse City (also visited twice, once for Chrystler jump and other for Empire State jump). Paris 1900. Popcha. All jumps were done "legally", with no cheating to get to the jump site. If there's interest, I'll keep doing these. It's good practice.

On Sunday of this week, a friend of mine had a horrific car crash. The long and the short of it is Spectra is still touch and go in the hospital. She's lost her arm because of the massive damage, her internal organs are also in a little jeopardy as well. She and Butterscotch are in Minnesota, and I'm down here. I want to do something for them both, even if Spectra isn't 100% "here" yet. Some people draw, I make videos and write. So this is something for Spectra. Penguins may not have a huge vertical leap, but they're pretty darn good at ice skating without skates. take for example this guy. Sure, he's an "African" penguin, but ya know skating is skating. A nice patch of ice on a remote spot, and he's happy. More video practice. This time, a little more storytelling. I needed the practice! New computer, new hardware, new software... TOTALLY need the practice. But, anyhow, this is footage of me riding the largest woodie in SL. Woodie as in longboard surfboard. What'd you think I meant? Sickos. More "practice" vids shortly. And, a note. I used different music in the background, but I guess that the band "Scorpions" have a problem with fans using their favorite music in fan videos with content. So, fine then. They've graduated to "Metallica" status in my mind and are no longer "artists". So I audioswapped it for a band called "Musicshake" and it's "Surfing the Sounds" or something like that.

THIS VIDEO IS UNDER ATTACK BY WARNER MUSIC GROUP!!!!! I was just sent an e-mail that claims my parody of the Van Halen song "Right Now" is a copyright infringement to WMG! Parody is still fair use! And this is a parody of the original music video!!!! Made for Midwest FurFest 2008 Variety show. A music video based on Van Halen's video for "Right Now" This was made for a live audience, and as part of a live show. I got to introduce it, somewhat, as the bunny you see leading off the video. It went over VERY well there, and now I share with you all. Some people have asked about this. At the end (4:10), there's a still photo. The person in the fursuit is Bradhound. The photo he's holding is of Kimberfox, who passed away in early 2007 after battling cancer. Brad was kind enough to let me include that picture in the video. It is one of the pictures that defines the furry fandom for me, and I'm honored he let me use it. Skuff playign a little DDR, playing "On the Jazz". Playing cold, no warm up or anything. WHY doesn't Extreme have Mikenoko Rock!?!?! WHY!?!?!?!?!? A fun night, Rinkside and Gurnee Mills had a pre-halloween event, so a bunch of us went there to have a little fun. DDR in suit isn't easy! Almost fell off the pad! If I did, then all the big re-distributors would have hosted this too! (you know the ones, the web sites that steal content and sell ads without paying the people who they steal videos from?) Film footage shot by Frostcat, who you can hear wanting to kick the other machine because the volume was way too high. I did a little video magic here, and made the DDR song actually hearable. The "Electric Slide" dance is copywritten, and the creator went on a crusade a year ago, abusing the "Digital Millennium Copyright Act" in the process. A tribute for heroes, survivors, and families left behind. "Relay for Life" is a nation wide fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. There are also events in Second Life, an online gaming community that has a global presence. RFLSL raised L$53,188,280 of in-game money, which roughly translates into $203,870 US. (http://events.cancer.org/RFLofSL) Other events held in the last two months included fishing tournaments, raffles, surf competitions, builds, concerts, and so much more. The Luminaria with the rose is the one I dedicated to my Mom, who fought the good fight but ultimately lost. I still miss you mom. Matt made another video, so I do too. Furry see, furry do. Another surf safari, this time it's about 22 sims I think, including one I wanted to put in the last one but ran out of room for! Music is by "Blue Man Group" and is called "Mandelbrot part 4" All beaches are "live" as of right now, but that can change any minute really. Nothing is constant except change, especially in Second Life So if you go, enjoy it while you can. I know the footage is once again choppy, but until I get a new computer, it's the best I can do. On the bright side, we only crashed 4 times this go round. Oh, and this'll be the last machinma for a while. Need a new box, this one frustrated the hell out of us to do.
